Section 1: Rationale/Review (Level 2 approx 50 words, Level 3 approx 100 words)
In my last project I didn’t complete my documentary to the standard I would’ve liked; there wasn’t enough shots for certain parts of the film. This was due to my poor time management, when filming the battery died and I didn’t leave enough time to reshoot, this is something I will make sure to improve going forwards into this project. Additionally, another area, which I need to improve on, is my research; in previous projects this is somewhere where my work wasn’t very detailed, which brought my overall grade down.
Section 2: Project Concept (Level 2 approx 100 words, Level 3 approx 200 words)
My idea for this project is to create a short animated opening sequence. I first plan to conduct research into other opening sequences to a general idea of what I want to create for my own, for example, looking into how people present the title to their audience etc. I will be blender to create the visuals for the piece. The show I am going to be creating the opening sequence for is ‘the Walking Dead’, in blender I’ll create an apocalyptic looking scene and incorporate the title into that.
Section 3: Evaluation (Level 2 approx 50 words, Level 3 approx 50 words)
For my evaluation I’ll need to manage my time better, I’ll do this by writing a paragraph on each stage on the project after I’ve completed it then expanding on that when I rewrite my final evaluation. Additionally, I’d like to get feedback for my practical work from my peers, so I have various and valid opinions to include when writing my evaluation.

Idea 1

My first idea is to create an opening sequence for a post-apocalyptic TV show (one similar to The Walking Dead). I will be creating this using the program Blender, making models of abandoned cities covered in over growth and lack of population. Additionally I'll be concluding shots of the show's titles, slowly revealing it by using close-up shots which only show a letter or two.

I want to create this because I think it will demonstrate many different skills, both in research and and production. Also, I'm interested in the horror genre and a fan of the show The Walking Dead.

Idea 2

My second idea is to create yet another opening sequence, however this one will be a retro 80s introduction. I will base the production off of the show Stranger Things, whilst also doing further research into other 80s themed TV shows, so I can include the conventions of these kind of shows in my own opening sequence.

Furthermore, I'd like to create this because I think it'll be unique and give me the opportunity to be creative with my FMP.

Idea 3

My final idea for my FMP is to create moving image and print based adverts for an existing company. I'd like to do this as I enjoy working in graphic design and I find that you can do a lot of in depth research when advertising, also since we had previously made an advert for one of our assignments i'd want to expand on that to improve it.

Pitch analysis

I think my pitch was successful in informing my peers what it is I want to create and how I plan on creating it, additionally I gave examples of other opening sequences to give a good comparison. I also explained why I had chosen that idea, telling them that it would be unique and creative whilst also appealing to a large audience. A crucial piece of feedback I received after my pitch was that I had to invent my own show and create an opening sequence for that, this is helpful in that my final piece will be completely original.

To improve my pitch I could've made sure it lasted five minutes (as that was the required time), and perhaps explained my idea in further detail.


Note : Since my pitch I have changed my idea from a post-apocalyptic opening sequence, to a retro 80's opening. This is because I found that trying to learn a new software in a few months wasn't possible and I'll be able to create a better piece using After Effect, which I'm more comfortable with.
